Mehdi Hasan


The  Pakistani ghazal genius, reportedly passed away at a Karachi hospital on Wednesday after a extended illness, he was 84 at the time of his death.

Arif, his son told the media that his father died of breathing complications at a private nursing home in Karachi.

Around last month, the ghazal maestro was discharged from the hospital and was admitted back only a day after; however he was not put on a ventilator.

Arif said, “My father has been ill for the last 12 years but this year, his condition has deteriorated significantly… in the last one month. He was released from hospital for just one day before being admitted again.”

Mehdi Hasan, who has a fan following all over the globe, had been suffering from lung, chest and urinary tract ailments for many years.
